How To Root Nexus Player (Android 7.0)

Tested on Android 7.0 with Nexus Player 2014 model.

REQUIRED HARDWARE
– Nexus Player (update to v7.0)
– USB-Mini to USB Adapter (for mouse and USB thumbdrive)

INSTRUCTIONS
1) Download/Install Minimal ADB and Fastboot. Select the option to put a shortcut on your Desktop. Download/install Universal ADB Drivers.

2) Download TWRP .img file (check twrp.me for newest img). Rename it to twrp.img and put it in your “C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot” folder.

3) On your Nexus Player get the ES File Explorer app from the Google Play Store.

4) Download SuperSU .zip and use ES File Explorer to store it on your /sdcard/Downloads folder. (check forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu for newest zip)

5) Pull out the power cable. Hold down the sync button (don’t let go), insert power cable, when the white light starts blinking you can let go of the sync button. You’re now in fastboot mode.

6) Plug your Nexus Player in to your PC. Double click the minimal ADB and Fastboot Desktop icon. Type in the following commands in order:

fastboot oem unlock
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

7) Press the sync button 1 time to move from NORMAL BOOT to RECOVERY BOOT. Hold down the sync button for 3 seconds, release. You are now in TWRP.

8) Plug in your USB mouse. Swipe on the bottom to continue unlock. Click install > (navigate to downloads folder) > Select Super SU .zip file. Install it.

9) Select reboot option. Fire up the Super SU app on your home screen. Press the center button on your remote. You can now exit the app.

You have a rooted device now! Try install Cheat Engine for Android!
