The Best Upcoming Phones In 2016

If your phone is starting to run slow and you can’t wait to get a new one, it might be worth waiting a bit, as 2016 will feature a lot of amazing phones. In this list, we try to focus on the biggest upcoming smartphone releases of 2016. While there are lots of rumors on the Internet, we can’t be 100% sure whether or not they are real, therefore some phones might turn out to be different on release.

The new iPhones

Given that Apple is one of the biggest players on the smartphone market, it is understandable why their phones come out year after year, without pause. This year, Apple is actually rumored to release 3 iPhone models: 7, 7 Plus and 5SE. While the 7 and the 7 Plus will most likely feature an A10 chip and a M10 motion co-processor with 2GB of RAM, the iPhone 5SE is the most interesting one this year. According to a recent leak, the iPhone 5SE (probably standing for Second Edition) will mark Apple’s return to smaller, 4-inch screens, while still packing the most recent technology.

Apparently, the iPhone 5SE is due for a March unveil/release, so we’ll have to wait until then to check if these rumors are actually true.

New Nexus 6

Another certain release with uncertain details is Google’s new Nexus 6. While it is still very early for rumors regarding Google’s new smartphone, recent leaks suggest that the phone will once again be manufactured by Huawei, and it will feature a Snapdragon 820 chip, guaranteeing a fast and smooth experience. What is more, the phone is expected to be the launch platform for the new version of Android, Android N. The device will also feature a USB-C port and a 6-inch screen, making this more of a phablet than a traditional phone. The new Nexus 6 is expected to be launched in October.

Microsoft Surface Phone

This has been hinted for a while, but it’s still unclear whether or not Microsoft will actually release it. There are few rumors about it on the Internet, but apparently, the Microsoft Surface Phone is another phablet, running Windows 10, which will feature a 5.5 inch AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM, an Intel processor and huge storage space, users being able to choose between a 64GB and a 128GB model. Other rumors suggest that the phone could release with a stylus and a USB-C port.

Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and S7 Edge+

Another huge player on the market, Samsung is currently raking in big cash from their newest models, the S6 (Edge (Plus)). While many may think that it’s crazy for a phone to have that many releases, it seems that they’re on par with others, given that Apple is planning such a move too. In fact, in our day and age, given that people have had their time with technology, there are many different tastes when it comes to devices, so it is only natural that a company as big as Samsung offers a size for everyone. It is expected that the new models will feature improved hardware, such as a Snapdragon 820 chip, while keeping the fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor of the S6.

Apparently, the 2016 models will be unveiled in a February Samsung keynote, but this isn’t set in stone. However, we are certain that we will also see the new phones in action in March, at Mobile World Congress.

Other honorable mentions

If you don’t like these brands, or you just don’t want a pricey phone, here are other phones coming out in 2016: Nextbit RobinOnePlus 2 Mini and 3, Sony Xperia Z6, HTC One M10, and LG G5, G Flex 3, V10.

That being said, 2016 is definitely an exciting year for the world of smartphones, and we don’t even know most of the details yet.
